Thyroid disorders and Homeopathy

Updated: May 2, 2022

The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland in your neck. It makes two hormones that are secreted into the blood: thyroxin (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). These hormones are necessary for all the cells in your body to work normally

The thyroid gland lies in the front of your neck in a position just below your Adam’s apple. It is made up of two lobes - the right lobe and the left lobe, each about the size of a plum cut in half - and these two lobes are joined by a small bridge of thyroid tissue called the isthmus.

Different thyroid disorders in brief:

1. Hyperthyroidism:

In hyperthyroidism, the thyroid gland is overactive. It produces too much of its hormone. Graves’ disease is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism, affecting about 70 percent of people with an overactive thyroid. Nodules on the thyroid — a condition called toxic nodular goiter or multi nodular goiter — can also cause the gland to overproduce its hormones.

2. Hypothyroidism:

Hypothyroidism is the opposite of hyperthyroidism. The thyroid gland is underactive, and it can’t produce enough of its hormones.Hypothyroidism is often caused by Hashimoto’s disease

3. Hashimoto’s disease

Hashimoto’s disease is also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis. It’s the most common cause of hypothyroidism, The disease occurs when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks and slowly destroys the thyroid gland and its ability to produce hormones.

4. Graves’ disease

Graves’ disease was named for the doctor who first described it more than 150 years ago. It’s the most common cause of hyperthyroidism.

Graves’ is an autoimmune disorder that occurs when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland. This can cause the gland to overproduce the hormone responsible for regulating metabolism.

5. Goiter

Goiter is a noncancerous enlargement of the thyroid gland. The most common cause of goiter worldwide is iodine deficiency in the diet. Researchers estimate that goiter affects 200 million of the 800 million people who are iodine-deficient worldwide.

Few Myths and Fact about Thyroid disorders.

Myth 4- Homeopathy is only a placebo effect.

How does it affect our body?

What does Thyroid do in our body ?.

The T4, or rather the T3 derived from it, and the T3 secreted directly by the thyroid gland influence the metabolism of your body cells. In other words, it regulates the speed with which your body cells work. If too much of the thyroid hormones are secreted, the body cells work faster than normal, and you have hyperthyroidism. If you become hyperthyroid because of too much secretion of the hormones from the thyroid gland, the increased activity of your body cells or body organs may lead, for example, to a quickening of your heart rate or increased activity of your intestine so that you have frequent bowel motions or even diarrhea.

On the other hand if too little of the thyroid hormones are produced (known as hypothyroidism), the cells and organs of your body slow down. If you become hypothyroid, your heart rate, for example, may be slower than normal and your intestines work sluggishly, so you become constipated.

So basically the thyroid gland is responsible for all the activities right from your sleep, appetite, your mood swings, you thinking , everything.
